The third annual Jobstream User Days were held in November 2008 in Jersey and in the Isle of Man. These popular events again saw a good turnout with representation from the majority of our clients in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, and this year coincided with Jobstream Group's 15 year anniversary.
The User Day events are highly popular because of the opportunity they give for interaction between us and our clients and, more importantly, amongst our clients. We use the events to present information about the company and new features in the product, and to garner feedback from a broad section of our client base on the direction and design that the product should be taking, whilst the events give our clients the opportunity to engage with our staff – including John Brimacombe, founder and CEO, who gave the opening keynotes at both events – and with other clients directly.
This year’s events were no different, as John Keane, our senior client consultant, introduced the latest Jobstream version, Jobstream 8.7, presented development plans and demoed forthcoming new features, along with a roundtable discussion presenting our thoughts on management information and reporting and seeking the opinions of the attendees on their specific needs and requirements in these areas. This is a key area of development for Jobstream over the coming months, and a good level of understanding was reached as to how our clients want this to move forward.
David Evans, who works on our Support desk, delivered a successful workshop discussing how existing systems can be tailored to match business needs and automate key processes using our innovative Custom Systems and Change Driven Documentation mechanisms. This was the first time that David had had an opportunity to attend and speak at our user days and he said "it was a great experience, and it was good to put faces to names and meet some of the people that I have been in contact with over the last year."
This year we also had guest presentations for the first time, taking the opportunity to introduce partners offering services and solutions complementary to those of the core Jobstream platform. In Jersey, we were able to welcome Alistair Hancock of Rubicon Software, who discussed the application of CRM (“customer relationship management”) systems to the specific needs and requirements of the trust market and presented the Accelerator module for adding CRM capability to the Jobstream platform. At the Isle of Man event, Rupert Leaton of Manx Business Solutions presented on the subject of electronic document management and described how this can be integrated into the Jobstream system, illustrated with case studies at existing Jobstream client sites.
And of course, as ever, both User Days saw plenty of opportunity for open discussion and networking amongst the attendees. The discussions were continued on a more informal basis at breakout sessions and over dinner, when all our clients had the opportunity to share common areas of interest.

The Channel Islands User Day was held – for the third year running – at Longueville Manor near St Helier, whilst the Isle of Man User Day had a new venue this year – Brightlife near Andreas.
The presentation materials used during the User Day are available to Jobstream customers at the User Day resource page. The next Channel Islands User Day will be held in October/November 2009, and we will be providing further details nearer the time.
