November 2009
The fourth annual Jobstream User Days were held on 30th September at Brightlife in the Isle of Man and on 13th October at Longueville Manor in Jersey. Once again, the events were very popular, and these were by far the most interactive sessions we've held. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear directly about our clients’ issues, what they would like to see in future releases of Jobstream, and to involve them in our development process.
At this year’s events we took the opportunity to launch the new version of our software, Jobstream 9. John Keane introduced the headline features of this release, focussing on how we extract and present key business and management information from the system into role-based dashboards, summaries, and custom reporting frameworks.
Jobstream 9 also includes the first phase of our project to build banking interactions into the system to support straight-through processing. The Bank Statement Import and Reconciliation module allows Jobstream users to automatically import bank statement and transaction details. David Evans from our Client Services team spoke in depth about this new module and how it interacts with the accounting system to optimise bookkeeping and reconciliation processes. David also reviewed some of the common issues raised in the last year to our support team and how they have worked together to deal with queries raised.
For the first time, this year’s User Days also included breakout sessions. In these sessions, small groups discussed various topics amongst themselves, highlighting the main issues that they themselves have, before returning to report on the findings of each group. These findings were then discussed in more detail to identify the top items – all items, but the top items in particular, will be taken forward for consideration in our development path.
The discussions continued on a more informal basis over lunch and dinner when all attendees had the opportunity to share common areas of interest, discuss particular problems and best practice requirements.
The presentation materials used during the User Day are available to Jobstream customers at the User Day resource page. The next User Days will be held in October/November 2010, and we will be providing further details nearer the time.
